Finance Director / Head of Finance – Real Estate – 6m FTC Initially – City of London – c£100k+

We are on the hunt for a hands-on, forward-thinking, entrepreneurial and dynamic Finance Director / Head of Finance, Senior Finance Manager, with ACCA/ACA qualifications and demonstrable experience in accountancy and financial controls, to join our client, a rapid-growth organisation in Central London. 

A strategic mindset, solid business acumen, hands-on responsibility for financial reporting, forecasting and budget preparation, cost and revenue analysis and an intricate understanding of P&L is what we’re looking for; together with excellent communication skills, a professional demeanour and the ability and tenacity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic and client-focused environment.

The opportunity: This is initially a 6+ month assignment with a view to converting to a permanent role. Long-term, this role has the potential to lead into an MD position in the future, so we’re looking for someone who is eager to develop into a full business leadership role. This will suit a commercially-astute individual who will shape business strategy, investment decisions and capital allocation and support acquisitions and business growth. 


Key responsibilities as the Finance Director will include: 

  • Owning the financial strategy and operating model
  • Aligning growth plans with profitability objectives
  • Leading budgets and forecasting 
  • Strengthening cashflow management 
  • Producing management accounts and Board packs, delivering incisive commentary and forward-looking insight
  • Upgrading finance processes, automating workflows and improving NetSuite configuration and reporting 
  • Managing property-related finance (business rates, lease terms, commercial negotiations etc.)
  • Leading M&A finance
  • Partnering cross-functionally (Sales, Ops and IT teams)

What we’re looking for: 

  • ACCA or ACA qualified
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Maths or similar
  • Demonstrable senior level experience in accountancy / financial management (c7+ years)
  • Success in Senior Finance Manager, Head of Finance or Finance Director roles, ideally in Real Estate, Hospitality or SME organisations
  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on and strategic
  • Experience in presenting to senior leadership and Board and influencing strategic decisions
  • Intricate P&L understanding
  • Experienced in forecasting, budgeting and cashflow processes
  • Budget-holder engagement and management with the ability to build relationships and understand, challenges and support their financial plans 
  • Experienced in monitoring and performance tracking
  • Understanding and experience of cost and revenue analysis
  • Previous involvement in business transformation projects, system implementations or process management 
  • Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail
  • Strong IT literacy including Advanced MS Excel 
  • Experience with NetSuite
  • Focused, organised, self-motivated, flexible and dynamic nature
  • Proactive problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Desire to go above and beyond
  • Available imminently and able to commit to a 6+ month FTC with a view to leading on to a permanent role
