Legal Cashier

Legal Cashier – City Law Firm – London / Hybrid Working – up to £45k + great benefits

We are looking for an experienced Legal Cashier to join the finance team of a successful City law firm as soon as possible. 

Joining a team of 5, the Legal Cashier will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Cashier team, with a strong focus on the client account and ensuring strict adherence with the Solicitor Accounts Rules (SAR).
We are looking for candidates with experience in a similar role, experience of Aderant accounting system and knowledge of VAT and Solicitors Accounts Rules.

Key responsibilities as the Legal Cashier will include:

  • Providing expertise on technical cashiering matters including postings and reconciliations and compliance aspects (i.e. AML guidelines and SAR) 
  • Ensuring all transactions on the client bank accounts are posted on a daily basis
  • Liaising with partners, fee earners, external clients and the bank as required
  • Reviewing, monitoring and clearing client residual balances 
  • Performing and allocating the quarterly interest calculations
  • Opening and closing all deposit bank accounts
  • Running the daily sub ledger reconciliations
  • Assisting with payment and posting of partner capital interest, partner tax and profit distributions to partners
  • Contributing to cashiering projects and initiatives

What we’re looking for:

  • Previous experience in a similar Legal Cashier / Legal Finance Assistant role is essential
  • Expertise in application of Solicitors Accounts Rules 
  • Knowledge and experience using Aderant accounting system is highly preferable
  • Good understanding of VAT
  • Strong IT skills in MS Office, in particular Excel
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong academics including GCSE English and Maths
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-tasking to meet deadlines
  • Proactive nature
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
