Senior Accounts Assistant – Insurance Organisation – City of London – up to £38k (dependent on experience)

We have a lovely opportunity for a professional and reliable Senior Accounts Assistant / Accountant to join a traditional, international insurance organisation in their London office as their Syndicate Accountant / Accounts Assistant.

Suitable candidates will have a steady background in accountancy; you may not necessarily hold any financial qualifications but will be qualification by experience. 

Please note: In the first instance consideration will be given to those who are qualified by experience. 

Reporting to the Financial Accountant, the Syndicate Accounts Assistant will provide accounting support to the European Syndicate team and assist in maintaining a high level of service to members. 

Key responsibilities as the Senior Accounts Assistant will include: 

  • Updating, reconciling and reporting on member related accounts including the despatch of statements on a monthly basis and the distribution of debit and credit notes
  • Credit control for the syndicate 
  • Attending syndicate meetings and reporting on debtor balances
  • Providing general accounting support including data preparation and input
  • Arranging for payments to be made as required
  • Maintaining all correspondence and ensuring accurate filing to maintain a good audit trail
  • Providing ledger and other financial reporting
  • Maintaining a close liaison with members and brokers

  • Experience gained in an Accounts Assistant / Accountant role, preferably within the insurance sector
  • Qualification by experience
  • Credit control knowledge and experience
  • Ledger and financial reporting experience 
  • Desire to provide a high level of service to members
  • Professional nature and steady work history 
  • IT literate
  • Accuracy and keen eye for detail
