Governmental Affairs and Policy Researcher – Membership Organisation – Central London, NW1 – Office Based – £33k-£35k

We are on the hunt for a proactive and experienced Governmental Affairs and Policy Researcher, ideally with a relevant degree, to join an interesting national membership organisation in Central London, on a permanent basis.

The Governmental Affairs and Policy Researcher will be a key player in writing and submitting communications regarding policies and will provide policy guidance and recommendations after researching and monitoring updates on government and legislative developments.

Suitable candidates will ideally have a strong interest in governmental affairs, policy, legislation and comms with exceptional communication skills (written and spoken) and proficient research capabilities. You will be a people-person with the ability to liaise with relevant government officials, stakeholders and representatives, and be willing to represent the organisation at relevant conferences/external meetings.

 

What’s on offer?

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Writing and submitting all communications for government calls for evidence and consultations
  • Providing policy and regulatory guidance and recommendations on legislative matters
  • Monitoring and providing daily updates on government and legislative developments
  • Arranging policy meetings
  • Representing the organisation at relevant conferences and external meetings
  • Liaising with government officials and stakeholders
  • Monitoring and managing daily press releases
  • Providing cover for Press Officer when required

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in a similar governmental affairs, policy and/or communications role (c2+ years)
  • Degree in a related field is advantageous
  • Excellent writing skills together with accurate proofreading
  • Ability to liaise effectively and professionally with government officials and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to represent the organisation at conferences, external meetings and events
  • IT literate
